It's that time of year again! As the weather warms up, you can see nature changing. Birds are back out chirping and flowers are blooming. One of the downsides is that bugs and pests also emerge from their hiding places.

How To Control Pests In Your Home
So, you think you may have a pest problem. Maybe you've noticed a trail of ants or a few suspicious droppings near an entryway. This could be a reason to take a closer look, before making any moves to eliminate them.
"Most insects in nature are beneficial and they only become a pest because we don’t 'like”' them or misunderstand why they are in our homes," Bill Hastings, branch manager of Rose Pest Control, said. "Insects are all around us, in our homes, in our yards, etc. and normally we don’t notice them… as long as they are not causing some sort of emotional, physical or economical discomfort they are not a problem."

As Hastings mentioned above, pest control pros should be contacted when there's a task that could be dangerous to DIY or when the problem has become too large to manage. He also mentioned that regularly scheduled maintenance may help homeowners.
"When things get out of hand professional pest control companies are there with the experience and tools to get the job done in a safe and economical manner," Hasting said "Most of the time pest control companies like to have a regularly scheduled maintenance program that provides the homeowner with a warranty. The benefit of having a regularly scheduled pest control program is that the cost over the course of a year is greatly reduced from having several one-time applications."
If you do decide a DIY approach before calling a pest control pro, Hastings said it's important to follow the exact instructions when using a pesticide. "Improper use of any pesticide is not only illegal but can be harmful to your health and/or that of the environment," he said.
Once you've determined that a pest control service is needed, you'll want to know how much it costs. The average cost of a pest control service is $211, with most homeowners spending between $134 and $198. Of course, this cost can vary based on the type of extermination needed.
